Chitabe Main Camp vs. Chitabe Lediba
AAC just changed our accommodation from Chitabe Lediba to Chitabe Main Camp and I'm not sure I'm thrilled. The agent is acting as if we should be thrilled -- as if we asked to be wait-listed which is hardly the case. I like smaller camps and Lediba has ten beds vs. the main camp's 16. Has anyone been to either or both of these camps who can comment?

Hi Pula,
Yes, I spend time at both camps more than once per year and was there last July.
There is a major difference in the tents between the two camps, as they have just rebuilt all the tents at Main camp. Up until the rebuild (earlier this year), the tents at the two camps were the exact same.
The price remains the same for the two camps. This poses a problem IMO as the accommodations are night and day. The new Main camp tents are far larger, have all new decor and the bathrooms and showers are far nicer too. There are also outside showers at Main camp now.
If I were you, I would stay at Main camp.
Hope this helps,
James

I was at Chitabe Lediba in May.
I loved Chitabe Lediba. It was my first WS camp, and I will say the accommodations were not as fancy as the others. My son and I had a "family tent" so it was spacious, and we had a lovely spacious deck and outdoor shower. The staff was warm and friendly, and I liked the small size of the camp. The vehicles were often not full, and I highly recommend our guide EBS.
However if more sumptuous accommodations are your thing, then go with Main Camp.
Where ever you choose, I do not think you will have made the 'wrong" choice.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback. This will be my sister's first visit to Africa and I've been thinking about those first impressions. Turns out the main camp is only half full, if that, and that's not likely to change this close to our departure (three weeks!). Interesting.

Pula, FYI: Chitabe Lediba is due for a renovation, refit, makover this spring (after the 1st of the year). Lediba is a bit worn down right now but so was Main Camp prior to its renovation. I expect the two camps to be equal to one another by next spring and summer. I mention this because anyone doing a search should find this information helpful. I know you will have a good time at Chitabe, it's a fantastic first exposure to Botswana.
