Chimpanzee Safaris rebranded Mbali Mbali

The operator Chimpanzee Safaris with camps in Mahale, Gombe, Katavi and Tarangire has refurbished their camps and is now called Mbali Mbali.

Of note in Mahale Nkungwe is now just Kungwe Beach Lodge.

We just came back from Tanzania and stayed at Kungwe Beach Lodge at Mahale. I have to say that they have done a very nice job refurbishing their camp. I would definitely recommend staying here over the over priced, over hyped Greystoke for anyone planning on going to Mahale. The tents were nice, the food was great, the staff was amazing and the Chimpanzee guide Sixtus is second to none. We had an amazing time. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip and I highly recommend going to see the chimps if anyone is planning a trip to Tanzania.

Ella,

That's great your chimp visits went so well for you. Here are some questions.

1. How many chimp visits did you do?
2. How many nights did you stay?
3. Did you arrive/depart on a scheduled flight or did you use another means?
4. Any idea about how much $ you saved at Kungwe Beach over Greystoke?
5. What kind of wildlife could you see from camp?
6. Care to share your entire itinerary?
7. Could you tell us how this visit to Mahale was arranged? Directly with the camp, using an agent, etc.

If you are just getting over jetlag, excuse the double barreled blast of questions.

But if you could respond at your convenience, I think a lot of us would be interested.

Thanks a lot.

atravelynn,

I would love to answer all of your questions, but I'm going to start a new thread so I don't highjack this one. Look for it within the next day or so. I love babbling on about our trip and sadly everyone I know is already sick of hearing about it. Can't wait to lull new people to sleep with my Tanzania tales.

Ella,

I, too, am curious to read further of your experiences at Mahale and your responses to Atravelynn's questions. I am contemplating a trip next year and would love to hear any advice you have. Looking forward to your Tanzania tales.
