Does anyone know, how many ppl to a vehicle at CCAfrica camps........Phinda/ngala/Londolozi etc etc.,?

Hi Hari,

The official policy is no more than 6 to a vehicle (with three rows, this guarantees everyone a window seat). However, I've never been in a CCA vehicle with more than four people, including me.

Julian, have you been to the N. Crater Lodge? I know that Eben posted he felt it was too difficult to photograph with 4 people in the enclosed vehicle.

I have been to Crater Lodge, but I hadn't yet become a serious photographer (I only had a little point and shoot), so I'm afraid I can't really answer your question. However, based on my memory of the size of the vehicle, it would have been challenging to but doable to maneuver a big SLR and lens.

On the other hand, maneuvering an SLR and lens can be challenging in an open vehicle as well, depending on where you sit and whether the person in front of you is tall/has a large hat/has big hair.

Julian, I give up my Texas Big Hair on safaris so you can sit behind me. I'm not sure if you'll be able to see around my elbows holding the camera. I realized I was taking up alot of space so I made conscious efforts to not block people (of course, that is when I could remember).

6 in 3 rows is not too bad! Only problem would be, rows 2 and 3 would be too high for photography. Let me hope for 4 ppl.

Unfortunately, CCA is very expensive for private vehicle rentals.
