Cash on Board
What is a realistic amt. of cash to carry at the start of a trip? Sound like I should have several hundred anyway to get started with meals and hotels as VISA is not used much, right?

I couple clicks told me you are in Southern Tanzania with some scheduled and unscheduled activities. The orphanage donations would be in addition, I assume. I am sure you have checked with them on their desired currency.
There will be two of you with Mom paying most is my guess. I would think you are staying a day or two in Gombe. I'd take $50/day plus whatever you expect to pay in Gombe (could be hundreds of dollars for accommodations or just a few) plus $500. I always take way more than I need in case of emergencies and always bring most of it home.
Have fun.

Thankyou so much for your reply. Sorry I made you dig! So besides the money pouch are there ways y'all use to bring in a couple of thousand dollars? I am used to the credit card trip so this is new to me carrying around wads of cash.
