Can one free lance In Victoria Falls?

We are looking at spending 4-5 days in Vic Falls at the end of March and are wondering if it is possible to arrange game drives, tours and cruises once we get there? We want to visit Chobe and take a river cruise - too old for bungee and white water. The other option is to make the arrangements with an outfitter before we arrive. If we use an outfitter, does anyone have a recommended company?

Quite easily. Your hotel/lodge would have a travel desk. They'll could normally arrange in short notice. If you have the time, after you arrive in Vic Falls, you could shop around too.

Why use an outfitter? Contact the hotel (or use google) to arrange activities before you go. Most activities can be booked upon arrival but if there’s something very important to you, I’d book those ahead.

For me, 4-5 days in Vic Falls would be way too long. Spend at least 2 nights in Chobe (in Botswana) if possible. Not a good day trip as the wildlife viewing is best morning and late day so day trip miss those times. (I’d do a day trip to VF from a Chobe!) There are houseboats in Chobe that are a great way to experience it. Just know that in March the wildlife will be dispersed and not congregating by the Chobe River as there is more water available. Not sure about the water flow in VF, it might be very full during that season and tough to see with all the very dense mist (the Soke That Thunders”). Just check the historical conditions.

Pangolin Voyager and Zambezi Queen are the houseboats. Contact them for booking, transfers, etc.

It can be better to fly back to JNB from Kasane, very close to Chobe (if you’re going that way).
