I'm just looking for a moderate priced bushcamp in kruger national park. Can anyone recommend somewhere! thanks

Are you looking for a private camp or a government run rest camp?

We have stayed in private camps in Botswana and one in South Africa but for most of our South Africa safari experiences (in 2004) we chose to self-drive and stay in self-catering, ensuite rondavels/ chalets/ bungalows in the government run rest camps.

We stayed one night at Berg-en-Dal rest camp on our way up to Olifants where we stayed 3 nights in a river view ensuite self-catering rondavel.

We did similar in Ithala, Addo and Imfolozi.

For private camps in this reserve I can't help much.

We've stayed in several of the main camps in Kruger, but not in the bush camps, so I can't comment on any of them per se, but the prices for all of them are shown on the Sanparks web site, along with all the information about facilities and so forth. The website is www.sanparks.org.

That website also has a forum with discussions about all the camps; maybe someone there can give you good info.

How soon are you planning on going? We'll be there next week and I'm counting the minutes!

We are staying in Lower Sabie, Oliphants and Letaba for a week at the end of the month - can't wait either. Second trip. We booked through Sanparks on the web - prices round about $100 A (US$70) per hut per night, self-catering. Bushcamps are cheaper, but we retirees like the added comfort and security of air-conditioning and fridges. Celia - let's know how your trip went, please?

Of the Kruger bushcamps, I like Talamati the best. They have a nice hide on the perimeter fence that looks out over a waterhole, where the elephants come and drink almost every night. The other bushveld camps are pretty nice too. I think I've been to all the (goverment run) camps by now, so if you need any help, just ask.
