Unfortunately, 'best' and 'reasonable' will probably conflict, so it depends on which is most important to you. It also depends on how many people are going, and where you are coming from.
For example, if you are traveling as a single, flying from US, the most reasonable trip is probably a package tour including airfare. But most people on this forum would say that is not the 'best' trip.

Both a group departure itinerary with set dates and accommodations can be escorted with guide/driver. A private independent itinerary where you set the dates and where you stay can be escorted with your own guide/driver.

And, as ann_nyc mentions - "best" and "reasonable" can vary widely.

Also know that July is peak-season in Tanzania when it comes to rates.

Suggest you pick-up a guidebook (Fodor's Complete Safari Planning Guide) to get an idea of where, what, when, etc. Then, please provide more info (how many in your party, estimated budget) for feedback.

Overseas Adventure Travel's "Safari Serengeti" is a fairly good group safari in Tanzania. Their prices include airfare.

I'll second ShayTay's suggestion. OAT's Safari Serengeti sounds like an excellent tour of Tanzania. I'm not sure where you're traveling from, but land only on that tour is only $3,195 in July. Air inclusive rates are also very reasonable, and can be calculated online at: http://www.oattravel.com/gcc/general...leftnav#dpsrch

We're taking another OAT tour to South Africa in December. Our experience with OAT has always been super, and we love that the maximum number of people on their tours is 16.

If you have any questions about traveling with OAT, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
