Wonderful report, Judy. Thank you. Good to hear that you enjoyed working with ATR -- as did we. If you liked Tanzania and want fewer people about - try Southern Tanzania next time. It was magical and we felt we had the whole country to ourselves.

A quick update... The animal I wanted to see more than any other on this trip was the flamingo. After many thwarted attempts, we finally got our fill at Lake Masek, where we watched a big flock for almost an hour and got great photos, including some with the birds in flight. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted all the photos from that afternoon. But last week, I found a (free!) utility and recovered them all!
So, here's a link to some of my favorite flamingo pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/alan.judy.albumn/Flamingos
And here's the updated slideshow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fcspKIkCSc
Hope there are some others out there that share my weird fascination with these birds.

Our trip was very much the same. We are so fortunate to have made this journey. LOVED your slideshow and the music. We have same camera and it really helped get great shots. Someday I might be able to select the photos for our MyPublisher book. So difficult to choose.

ElWh - on safari, it's definitely a dry heat. It is very very dry with very strong sun. Moisturize frequently! On Zanzibar, it's extremely humid in Stone Town (much worse than Thailand), but pleasant at the beach with a strong breeze.
Thank you for the kind words on the slideshow. I've also made a book to help us get temporary relief from safari withdrawal. It is here: http://www.blurb.com/books/3124683 , perhaps it'll help you too

Thanks so much for this report. We leave for Kenya and Tanzania in October and your information is so helpful. Two questions, 1. Did you see anyone using a waiver for yellow fever at the border or talk to anyone who might have used one. My husband and I have been advised to skip the shot and use an official waiver but we are worried that someone will make us get the shot on the spot. We will have traveled in Kenya prior to Tanzania
2. We are not taking any internal flights but our tour company said we should bring a duffel rather than a suitcase. We travel with carry on size 22inch suitcases and really need the wheels rather than hoisting on our shoulders. What did you use?
Thanks for the input

I just wanted to add a comment about negotiating with the operation ATR. The person I dealt with was very pushy, but I don't want to name names here. I do not deny his knowledge but he was quite pushy, made some off comments and was unwilling to alter his suggested itinerary. If you had a great experience with someone and recommend the person who helped you with your customized trip, please recommend.
Thanks
Daisy
