Airfare from Nairobi to Zanzibar

Does anyone know how much does a ticket cost one-way from Nairobi to Zanzibar?

Hi lerasp,

I am doing a one-way from Zanzibar to Nairobi for about 250 USD. I am sure a round trip would be more reasonable.

See if you can add it on to any ticket to Nairobi ... or departing from Zanzibar. With the right combination of carriers you should be able to get $100 or lower.

would love to add it on. but i'm flying on miles into NBO on American (and BA). As far as I can see, only Kenya Air flies NBO to Zanzibar and they are not partners with AA. If there's another way, i'd appreciate it.

For some reason travelocity.com gave me the best fare of $171 or something like that. As far as I know the only carriers are kenya air/precision air which codeshare. Talking direct to precision got me $189 quoted. Both are without the departure tax included, one way fares in USD. My tanzania agent was more expensive.

Anyway it is worth a try.

I just got a quote from my travel agent of $470 per person (roundtrip) to fly from Nairobi to Zanzibar in late October. Does that seem a bit high?

It sounded rediculous but I checked the Kenya Airways Website...

Nairobi to Zanzibar

Flight 1 Saturday, October 28, 2006
Departure: 09:45 Nairobi, Kenya - Jomo Kenyatta Int'l
Arrival: 11:15 Zanzibar, Tanzania - Kisauni

Airline: Kenya Airways 490 Aircraft: Aerospatiale/Alenia ATR 72

Operated by Precision Air
Fare type: Economy

Zanzibar to Nairobi

Flight 1 Friday, November 03, 2006
Departure: 07:40 Zanzibar, Tanzania - Kisauni
Arrival: 09:10 Nairobi, Kenya - Jomo Kenyatta Int'l
Airline: Kenya Airways 491 Aircraft: Aerospatiale/Alenia ATR 72

Operated by Precision Air
Fare type: Economy

Legend:e = e-ticket option, USD = U.S. Dollar
price
travellers flights taxes
1 adult(s) x (347.00 + 76.08) = 423.08 USD

total for all travellers* 423.08 USD
* 10.0% discount included

Seems shocking compared to the airfares we have between European destinations. However there's a low demand, fewer flights, less competition... so highre prices!
