Is Morocco safe for young female travelers?

I'm 20 and studying abroad in southern Spain, and was thinking of going to Morocco for a long weekend, I would definitely not just go by myself but sign up to go with a package tour, but I wouldn't know anybody else on the tour. My school has advised all students to not travel to Morocco for safety reasons, but I know several people who have gone and they haven't had any problems.

What do you think? Is Morocco safe for someone like me?

Did they explain what safety concerns they had? I thought you were posting about going solo. Dress conservatively and practise saying no to vendors.

use the Arabic "La, La, La," for "NO!" Works every time. With a group you'll be very safe. Don't know how much you can see in a weekend...not a small country per se'.

...and be more polite...La shukran (No, thank you). My wife was able to converse with most Moroccans in French. Many will understand just plain "no"...

In a group you will be fine. We were there last month after being in Egypt for a few weeks & I found Morocco very easy. Dress with the culture in mind though (no short shorts etc)

You may be harrassed, but don't let that stop you.

Morocco is generally a safe country, and of course, as with any country you should respect local traditions. I came alone at 25 for a private tour with JRANA Travel and Events. I felt fine. I just politely turned away men and vedors and did not walk any dark streets alone. Hope this helps!
