Flight into Heathrow - left or right side view?
Hi
My brother is flying into London from Singapore (Singapore Airlines) tomorrow on a day flight. My recollection is that this is an excellent flight for views because you get spectacular views over the Alps and the Ural mountains. Then on the descent into Heathrow, the plane flies over London with a view over the Thames and the London eye.
But my vague recollection is that all of these views are on the RIGHT side of the plane (ie he'll need a right side window).
Does anyone recall whether the views are on the RIGHT or on the LEFT of the plane?

The views of central London would normally be to the right if the plane's approaching from the east (if the wind and local noise control arrangements aren't sending them round to approach from the west, and if there isn't cloud). It's not entirely predictable.

"If approaching from the west it doesn't matter which seat you have as there's very little to see..."
Well, you might see us! One of the footpaths we walk our dog along is just below a Heathrow arrival flight path...we may be out there today (depending on the weather), if we see a Singapore Airlines jet above, we'll be sure to wave...

Flights arriving in London are nearly ALWAYS from the East, so the best bet is a window seat on the right.
As a child, I lived under one of the Heathrow flight paths, near Wembley - aircraft used that route when it was VERY windy. I used to love seeing the big turbo-props getting thrown around --- I would probably run for cover today!
