Phoenix to Sedona - where to eat breakfast/lunch/brunch?

We'll fly to PDX on Thursday, arriving around 10 am, renting a car, moving on toward Sedona.

Where is it better to eat - at the airport? In Phoenix? Somewhere on the way? It's a workday, we'd want something not packed if possible...

Or get food to go at the airport, have a picnic somewhere?

Faina: I can't give you a specific place to eat, but I would get out of town and on the road.

We did stop at a place that is famous for pies. It was not great, in fact, I killed a roach on the table.

Have fun and report back.

I think I know what place you mean, somebody advized those pies on my other thread. After the reviews I read (no roaches, just the attitude of them sellers) we will not be stopping there

I just topped our trip report for you. I lied about the pie place in my report and said it was "pretty good". I was just fair. But others think it is great.

Hmmm... what about vegatables? I've lost 13 lbs so far, and I don't want to get them all back in one place

Since you get in at 10 am, which is 9 am to your body, I would simply head right up to Sedona and have lunch there. Are you packing a nosh for the short plane ride? If not, maybe bring a little something to tide you over till you get to Sedona. Or grab a little something at airport, I would head out ASAP!

I agree with Deb. It's really no more than a 2 hour trip to Sedona form the airport. You could wait and do lunch there. Otherwise, if you're headed up I-17 - you'll see all sorts of restaurants right off the interstate exit at least until Anthem. After that, not much out there unless you detour to Prescott or stop in Cottonwood.

There are so many choices in Sedona that you'll probably have a hard time deciding. If you come up Rt. 17, you could stop at Cafe Jose in the Village of Oak Creek (on the left as you are driving toward Sedona). Our group of six ate there three or four times in August and enjoyed everything we tried, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner.

"Otherwise, if you're headed up I-17 - you'll see all sorts of restaurants right off the interstate exit at least until Anthem. After that, not much out there unless you detour to Prescott or stop in Cottonwood." - this is the answer I was looking for!

Deb, I don't think I can pack for all 6, and sure the 4 kids would not even think they can be hungry in America

Twina, I read your trip report, liked the menu - lots of veggies - just don't know if we'll go straight to Sedona, or stop on the way to see something.
