Sue,

You haven't said if you wanted to rent or buy so I'm not sure if REMAX would be able to help. I think they only deal with sales not rentals though.

Anyhow www.remax.com.au might be worth a visit. I found them to be very helpful when I sold a property here not so long back.

Gee whiz Liz...bad morning? Broad generalisations have absolutely no merit and only serve to make you look bitter and narrow minded....something that someone as well travelled as yourself couldn't possibly be.

Ok then, let me qualify this AND by the way I am an Australian. I was a Real Estate Agent in both Australia ( Perth) and in Canada. I found the Canadians to be a far more professional bunch with a system that was actually one that had the client's interest at heart.
I have bought and sold about 10 properties in Australia since returning from Canada and apart from the ones that I had an input in the others read like horror stories, the last one was only 7 weeks ago. The Real Estate Institute here does not have any control over agents and if anything goes wrong the only recourse one has is with the courts.
Having said that if you absolutely have to use one then use one with the highest profile i.e. L.J.Hooker, Ray White, The Professionals etc.
Sorry about venting about my lastest plight on this site and I hope Sue finds one that has some backbone and virtue.

As a matter of fact Liz I agree with you, as you can see in NZ. I have yet to find an honest one for a start. I was also going to say LJ Hooker, however I do hope if you ask them a question, that they bother to reply, Sue, another complaint I'd like to make about the RE industry down here, complacency. We are getting off the track here. However good luck.
