Need Suggestions for Post Christmas Trip

DH and I try to plan a three night trip each year between Christmas and New Year's Eve. We would appreciate any suggestions for a trip within the U.S. Some info about us:
1. Date of travel: December 26- December 30, or 31.
2 Age: mid to late 50's
3. Home: Northwest Florida
4. Interests: scenic and historical areas. DH not crazy about most museums.
5. Possible locations: within 2 hours of Baltimore, or six hours of Atlanta.
6. Ruled out: Florida, anything west of New Orleans.
7. Transportation: we can fly direct on Southwest to BWI and rent a car, or drive from Atlanta, as we have family there. .However, don't want to be too close to ATL or family will want us to spend all our visit there.
8. Budget: $140-$200. per night for hotel room.

Remember that there is an Amtrak station at BWI. You can take the train to Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York City from there.
If you could tolerate sleeping overnight on a train, you could ride the Amtrak Crescent overnight to Washington DC (Union Station) (8PM to 10AM).
If you wanted to stay in a warmer climate, head west to Biloxi and New Orleans.

Asheville/Biltmore House/dinner at Grove Park Inn.
Winston Salem--I've recently been promoting it for a family trip on here. At Christmas Old Salem will have all its Christmas decorations out and the wonderful brass Moravian music in its buildings.
Baltimore--have good seafood.
Charleston--have better seafood.
Winston or Charleston.

Yes the Crescent leaves Atlanta about 8PM every night (when it is on time). It originates early in the morning in New Orleans.
Sometimes the journey is part of the fun instead of looking down on clouds. If you were going to be sleeping in Atlanta anyway, it would be better to wake up in Virginia on the way to Washington.
