Getting to Losinj

Hopefully I can call on someone's experience in navigating this area of Croatia. I will be coming from the south (Zadar) and before I spend some time in Istria I am looking forward to spending a couple of nights either in Mali or Veli Losinj. Whether by catamaran or car ferry, Zadar or Rijeka can anyone recommend an enjoyable route to arrive at these lovely areas? I will be traveling in this area the last few days of April or possibly the first couple of May.

Thanks Fodorites!~

There is basically only one route to ML/L from Zadar via ferry. It will depend on how much time you have to make the journey.
Schedules are reduced at that time of year, and it requires a bit of island hopping to get from Zadar to ML/L to Istria. Compare schedules at http://www.jadrolinija.hr. An alternative is to head to Rijeka from Zadar (by bus) and see how the schedules work in that direction.
I contemplated doing this trip this spring but it did not work out. An alternative I considered was visiting Krk (via Rijeka) before Istria. Please report back how it goes!

I have emailed jadrolinija but am not holding out hope as the website shows the route from Rijeka but when I put in the dates it tells me the route does not exist. I'm guessing it doesn't exist at this time of year.

The alternative option would be to take a local ferry line from Brestova(Istria) to Porozina(Cres) (around 110Kuna for car and 2 passengers).

Thanks for getting back so promptly yorkshire, I will definitely report back on how it goes!

I hope you get to Mali/Veli Losinj as they're charming waterfront towns.

There will be a ferry from Zadar to Mali Losinj but it won't in operation at your time of travel. There are three buses daily from Rijeka which is time consuming but a lovely journey via Brestova through Cres.

You may also travel via Pag Island - Rab Island - Krk Island - Cres, but it's extremely time consuming

Thank you neckervd, I will look into the island hopping you suggested as I do have interest in visiting those places.
