Suggest a weekend getaway within 3 hrs (flying) from Manchester UK

My husband and I will be in England visiting family and have an opportunity for a weekend getaway (without our 1 year old!) and are seeking your recommendations for where to go:

We typically like places that are
- naturally beautiful (not into really urban settings) - potential for hiking/nature walks if possible
- pedestrian-friendly
- great food
- welcoming and comfortable hotel (as close to 'luxury' as $250 per night can get you)
- warm weather - 60-75 degrees (we will be going at the end of May)

For some context, we loved Cinque Terre, Dubrovnik, Rome, Yorkshire Dales.

We welcome all suggestions - be it destinations, hotels etc etc.

Thanks!

Since in theory anywhere in Europe is within a 3 hr flight of MCR, but actually MCR is surprisingly short of low-cost flights to European destinations (it'll eat up at least an hour to use LPL, the regional low-cost airport), and you might know what Rome and the Dales have in common, but no-one else does, the sensible answer is to limit yourself to those European destinations that DO have direct flights

All listed at http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/m...t/Destinations

Much of Greece and the Canaries are beyond the three hour limit. Unless you have done a lot of the UK, I would focus there. Otherwise it depends on what you want. Paris, Algarve, Barcelona, Perpignan, Prague, Palma are all on the budget airline route and only a few hours away.

Does it have to be with a cheap airline? If not then there are plenty of places which meet your requirements flying from Manchester.
Alternatively hire a car and head of to the Lakes, or North Wales, or the Peaks or Northumberland or one of any number of beautiful places places within in 3 hours drive of Manchester.
