Lake Tahoe Ritz Carlton

Mrs. Pappy and I are off to here in March after she won a 3 day weekend there. Anyone have ay experiences or advice on what's nearby to do, besides the obvious (skiing)? Is there a casino nearby with a sprots book?

All replies are welcome.

Thanks, and take care!

The nearest casinos to the Ritz Carlton are in Incline, over the state line, about 10 miles. Reno is about 40 miles from Northstar. The only upscale casino in Incline is the Hyatt Regency, the others are decidedly more downscale, Cal-Neva Lodge being the largest.

Will you have a car?

I'd take the time to spend a few hours, maybe a meal, in Truckee -- it's an old mining town with excellent shopping and restaurants. Breakfast at the Squeeze In is particularly good.

Maybe you can stay during the summer, or better yet the fall, when there is way more to do besides snow activities.

For one thing - it isn't in Nevada. I asked the editors to re-tag your thread.

Cal Neva's casino is closed (I thought it had reopened w/ a few slots but so far the website says it is still closed.)

There are a couple of other small/old fashioned casinos at Crystal Bay on the state line. But otherwise it will be the Hyatt at Incline - 12 miles from Northstar. Weather could be an issue. If there is snow/ice - hwy 267 over the hill into the Tahoe basin is a pretty steep grade and you may need chains.

What to do in March? Mainly visit Truckee for shopping/restaurants/pubs, ski (downhill or X-country), gamble, lounge show at the Hyatt, snowshoe, visit Squaw Valley, spa services.
