New Orleans - Jean Lafitte House (Esplanade Ave)
My wife and I are staying on Esplanade at the Jean Lafitte House in the middle of April. Is anyone familiar with these timeshares? I understand that this is near d.b.a as well. I've heard some good things about d.b.a. but its referred to by many sites as a "Manhatten-influenced" style of place. I'm not sure if I want Manhatten influence during my NOLA trip...

Lafitte house is a pleasant place with vitually no amenities on site except off street parking (which is a big plus?. I own a unit there, and while the staff is very helpful and friendly, they tend to be invisible at times. Check in is though the court yard and is hard to see at first. It is only minutes away from anything in the Quarter. Unless you are going to take long trips, it is much easier to walk around the streets than drive. The kitchen in the units is very small and woefully under understocked on cooking equipment. If you have any questions and can't find a person on site, the owner also owns the Maison Pierre Lafitte on Baronne St. and the number there is 504-527-5800. There is usually someone there during business hours and there is always an answering service. Enjoy the weather and the great food.

Thank you for the advice! I did speak with one of the owners (I think) and she was very helpful as well. We're really looking forward to the trip. I'll check back in to let you know how things went.

The trip was great! We had some trouble during check in due to a mix up with our keys (there was a family in the room we had a key to). Luckily, the group in our assigned room was very helpful and we were able to work it out and get into our proper room within about 45mins.
George, the Manager, was helpful and apologetic about the whole thing. The location was great and we loved being so close to Frenchmen Street.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking to explore New Orleans, but I would not recommend this place for families with small children. It would be a difficult place to haul them up and down all the steps.
