DFW to Italy (Milan)

Any chance I can get airfare cheaper than $1400 RT on AA in October? We have miles, but that's 60,000 RT / pp x 3 and that'll use up all we have - which isn't necessarily a problem.

I figured airfare would go down beginning in Oct., but apparently not. Any suggestions?

We don't have to fly into Milan, but we're heading to Lake Como so thought that would be best.

Check surrounding airports. Sometimes they can be cheaper. I often find Zurich cheaper, but then it's a bit further to Como. Check Turin and the other Milan airports beside MXP.

I've checked MXP and LIN (linate); I've even considered Zurich - but it would have to be extremely cheap because then I'd have train fare or rental car.

I'm just not accustomed to airfare being soooo high.

I've gotten the cheap saver fares from Zurich on the EC train to Milan (stops in Como). Buy from the departing country. I think I paid 19chf on the Swiss site for a Zurich/Milan ticket.

I'll double check the Zurich option. Thanks for the input.

I have been checking airfares for airports near Milan in September, and they are all high. If I were you, I'd use the miles, at least for one passenger.

Tom, that's a good idea - miles for some, pay for others. Thanks
