Bad weather today 11/17/2013 in Midwest

Is it better to keep a reservation and hang around all day in case of long delays.....or just bite the bullet and cancel until tomorrow?

Cancelling until tomorrow does not guarantee you a flight tomorrow. You'll be a standby passenger, and there needs to be available space. Passengers confirmed on those flights will not be bumped.

It depends, Jeff.

If the airline gave me a choice of hang around all day with the hope of getting something today, or a confirmed reservation for tomorrow, I'd usually take the latter.

When there is bad weather and flight disruptions they have a way of cascading.

If the reservation is confirmed for tomorrow, sure. If it's not, then I think people forget that they'll be put on the next flight with *available* seats. That's a risk.

Hi,
Yeah cancelling does not guarantee that you get flight tomorrow but off-course will get next flight if there are available seats. Cancellation due to weather not big issue they(airline department) suggest right way.
