My wife & I plan a short holiday in south west of England. We live in southern Ireland. We plan to use the morning ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard or Pembroke (probably using Tesco tokens, many of you who live in UK or Ireland will know about these). We want to go with my mother-in-law who lives in Chatham, Kent. The plan is to get her a rail ticket, and if the plan all goes well, we will collect her at a railway station somewhere and then the 3 of us continue. Then we do the reverse journey a week or 10 days later.
My thought is that Bristol Parkway sounds like a good station to park the car at and collect someone, and presumably it's not in a town centre. Any comments anyone? If I buy the train tickets early on redspottedhanky I think I can benefit from a £10 token I got recently from the telegraph website. Bristol Parkway seems to have good connections with Paddington, but then again so does Bath, also Bristol Temple Meads.
Also, how do Irish Ferries & Stena compare? It's a few years since I did the ferry from Rosslare. My feeling is that Stena uses a slightly shorter route, but I'm not sure if it's significant.

Sorry totally misread the question. Yes Bristol Park Way would be a good spot.

Bristol Parkway has a short stay car park which is free if you are only staying 20 minutes or so. There are usually spaces available, especially in the middle of the day.

Bristol Parkway is within a couple of miles of motorway junctions for both the M4 and M5. There are trains to London Paddington every 30 minutes on weekdays, and hourly at weekends.

Great, thanks for that. I've booked our ferry & mother-in-law's train. All we need now is some decent weather...
