Anchorage for one day

My husband and I will be in Anchorage for one day in June before we meet up with a Backroads Travel trip of biking, hiking and kayaking in the Kenai peninsula. Any suggestions for what to see for this one day?

we took a tour down to Seward where we got on a boat and did Resolution Sound, all in one day.

We liked the Anchorage Native Heritage Center, the History & Art Museum, and Earthquake Park.

When I was in Anchorage I enjoyed Portage Glacier and Alyeska. They can be done together and is a nice way to spend the day.

Anchorage itself... doesn't exactly entertain you like a town of 300,000 should, and with all of that outlying scenery, it makes the most sense to GO ELSEWHERE for the one day (meaning, rent a car and/or take a bus tour).

When I was there, I randomly selected "Seward" for a day trip, and it was absolutely the best choice I could have made. I was there very early in the year so perhaps the snow scenes were part of the appeal, but Seward is still a neat little place, with the path there being fairly awesome!

You'd get a true sense of "Alaska life" in Seward.
