Vegetarian fare in Paris
Will need help and guidance to plan on where to dine - spending 10 days in Paris with my two daughters - ages 14 and 19, in April. We are vegetarian - this is recent (our first year anniversary is approaching) and I am fearful we will not be able to dine where and whenever we want -
We are staying at the Hotel du Louvre, and will ask for recommendations from the staff, but would appreciate suggestions or shared experiences from fellow travelers. We do eat fish - and love pasta, beans, and vegetables - but are used to eating more countryside than city in Europe.
Of course, the bread and pastries will make up for anything we miss!

Generally the ethnic restaurants, Pakistan/Turkey/North Africa tend to be a good bet

There are many posts here on Fodors about vegetarian and vegan dining in Paris. The seacch box will lead you to them.
The short answer is that it is easy, esp if you eat fish. Dairy makes it a no brainer.

FLUNCH cafeterias are all over Paris - they offer unlimited servings from buffet of veggies, pasta, salads, etc. at a great price - place where locals go - downhome French food at the lowest prices around - about 6-7 euros, which includes one serving of meat for carnivores but umlimited veggies, salads, non-meat dishes, etc.

Like the others have said, if you eat fish and dairy you won't have any problems at all dining where ever and whenever you want. Salads, cheese, eggs, and seafood are staples of French cafes and restaurants. Just watch out for jambon in the crepes and quiches and you'll be fine.

You should have no trouble at all since you eat fish(not really a vegetarian diet). I don't eat meat and we have eaten all over Paris without difficulty. It shouldn't be necessary to select special restaurants as any bistro we have ever been to has had ample fish and vegetarian choices. Avoid restaurants like L'Entrecote which specializes in steak - I'm not sure there is anything else on the menu.

kerouac - do you know why FLUNCHes in Paris have closed down - lack of business - bankruptcy of great entity - falling out of favor, etc.
thanks for info - the one near Beauborg is where I have Flunched often in the past!

If you eat dairy and fish you will have no problems (you also aren't really "vegetarian" but I guess that's a separate discussion).
I think travel eating is only tricky if you are strictly vegan or perhaps even more so with some allergies (where you need to be mindful of hidden ingredients).
