Numerous companies work the route from Lima to Arequipa. Always take the best service you can afford: in addition to being less comfortable, cheaper carriers have less stringent safety standards, and the section of highway between Nazca and Cusco is notorious for robbery, especially on overnight services. Cruz del Sur, Oltursa, Peru Bus, and Ormeño provide the most reliable service and have the most departures from Ica, whereas the quality of vehicles and on-board service is notoriously patchy with other operators. An upstart young company, Peru Hop, offers flexible, hop-on, hop-off service all along the Southern Coast and will pick you up at your hotel.
