Matsuei Review
Chefs shout out a greeting as you enter the teak-floored dining room of this San Isidro standout. Widely considered the best Japanese restaurant in town, Matsuei specializes in sushi and sashimi. If raw is not your thing, the tasty kushiyaki, a house specialty, is a broiled filet with a ginger-flavored sauce. There's plenty for vegetarians, including Japanese eggplant grilled to perfection and served with a sweet sesame glaze in the goma nasu. The building is shaded by a cluster of slender trees.
