Why We Like It

This is one of very few hotels in this part of town, and gives a view of the old immigration patterns of first Palestinean, and then Korean immigrants. There is interesting architecture here, and good access to parts of the city many will never visit, without being too far afield of the big hits. It's also small, family-owned and cozy, with a great rooftop deck.

Fodor's Expert Review

This airy hotel just steps into the Recoleta neighborhood makes it close enough to Bellavista to walk, but not too near to hear any of the noise. The historic house has 24 rooms, several public lounges, and a great rooftop deck with comfy furniture and a grill. The hotel is bright and has simple design elements—mostly wood detailing. Ask for a room with a balcony looking over the patio with orange trees.

Room

Rooms are simple and clean, with the unusual ability to have a quadruple in a couple of the rooms. Rooms with small balconies overlook the adorable French-style patio with sculpture, black and white tiles and an orange tree. Wood details prevail throughout the hotel.

Bathroom

Clean and adequate, all have tubs.

You Should Know There is no window in the bathroom, so if you have multiple people showering here, it could get steamed up.

Lobby

Comfortable places to sit, but the main attraction for interaction is up on the top floor, where there is a rooftop deck wit a grill, and a great view over the neighborhood. If it's too cold outside, there is also an upstairs lounge.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

This hotel is fairly centrally located and minutes from the green line metro (Linea 5). However at night, it is advised to take an Uber/Cabify/taxi, because once you cross the park and river from the rest of downtown, the area can be quite empty. The same is true for returning from Bellavista.

Restaurants

The quirky, kooky Sarita Colonia (1-minute walk) restaurant serves mostly Peruvian food, and is well worth a visit for their cocktails, food and interesting furnishings. Experimental fusion food at 040 (9-minute walk) in Bellavista is also popular, and the most traditional of Chilean offerings can be found at Bellavista classic, Galindo (10-minute walk). For more ancestral-based food, try a meal at Peumayén, (10-minute walk) which uses traditional cooking techniques to great reviews.

Bars

Many visitors love Azotea Matilde (10-minute walk)in Bellavista for cocktails, or go to the speakeasy at Room 09 (in conjunction with the restaurant 040). Another popular place for drinks nearby is in the bar beside the Hip Hotel in Patio Bellavista (12-minute walk). Local beer and pub-grub can be found at KrossBar (11-minute walk)Or continue into Lastarria and check out Chile's first wine bar at Bocanáriz, (13-miinute walk) or the nearby Pisco bar of Chipe Libre (13-minute walk) For a low-brow but quirky experience, check out a very traditional watering hole to try a local terremoto (young wine with pineapple ice cream) at La Piojera (15-minute walk) in the late afternoon (at night it gets a bit rowdy).
