Getting Here and Around

The best way to get to Niterói is by passenger ferry from the Praça 15 de Novembro in Rio de Janeiro. The trip takes about 20 minutes with CCR Barcas boats (R$6.10). Don't travel here by car unless you have somebody driving for you. The roads in Niterói are even more confusing than in Rio. Viação Mauá's Bus 100 (R$4.35) departs for Niterói from Praça 15 de Novembro (in front of the ferry terminal). The trip takes 30 minutes, not counting traffic delays, which can be severe during rush hour.
