Fodor's Review

You'll catch superb sunsets from the beachside tables at this quiet little spot in Arpoador that serves high-quality seafood and pasta dishes for lunch and dinner and assembles a lavish breakfast buffet each morning. Across from the beach on the Arpoador Inn's ground floor, the restaurant has a giant window with panoramic views. Moqueca is the house specialty, made with shrimp, cod, lobster, crab, or octopus—or a mix of them all. The service at Azul Marinho is

excellent and the seafood is ultrafresh, but an even better reason to come here is to sit at one of the outdoor tables next to the sand and enjoy early-evening appetizers, drinks, and a marvelous sunset.

Esquisite food and Scenery: Azul Marinho

My first meal experience in Rio de Janeiro was at Azul Marinho, a rare spot for fish, seafood, and anything fresh right next to Ipanema. If weather permits, definitely sit outdoors in order to enjoy the sunset and breathtaking panoramic view. The waitstaff is attentive, despite how busy the place can get. I ordered the traditional Shrimp Moqueca although, I must admit, I was swayed to go with the famous “Pargo” fish dish. My dish was very moist,

fresh and tasty – a true Brazilian treat. All in all, Azul Marinho was a great place to soak up Rio’s sunshine and lifestyle, enjoy some natural beauty and of course, eat some good food.

Seafood fans

When I asked my concierge about a seafood restaurant, I couldn´t imagine how perfect it could be! Azul Marinho is unbelievable. Really refined, unique atmosphere (we could sit at outdoor tables, just next to the beach), great service and most important: Very good food! We had a " shrimp moqueca" and was amazing. As a big seafood fan I can say: Best seafood I´ve ever tried...Very good place to dinner. Highly recommended!!

Azul Marinho in Ipanema: great food, great view

My stay in Rio de Janeiro only make itself complete with good food. I buy the guide Rio for Partiers at my hotel and visited many of Rio´s best locations. One of my favourite restaurants, the Azul Marinho makes very good food with the "pargo" fish which everyone must try. Also the dishe called "moqueca", very popular in Bahia is made of shrimp in coconut milk and is the best. You go anytime, lunch and dinner, they are open. The location is the Arpoador

which divides Copacabana from the Ipanema neighbourhood. Try Azul Marinho for authentic Brazilian food, you will not regret.
