The best of the Luxor hotels in Rio, the Regente was renovated in 2004. The restaurant Forno e Fogão has a good feijoada, though it's not as well known as that of the Copacabana Palace. The suites have whirlpool baths. The gym area is small, but the hotel is committed to continually updating its equipment. If you choose a standard room, be sure that it's not one that faces south; those rooms have an unfortunate view of a trash-can-filled alley. Other rooms look out over Avenida Atlântica and Copacabana Beach.
