Getting Here and Around

Several companies have buses departing from the main terminal in Puno around 7 am and 2 pm for around S/30; the ride takes about 3½ to 4 hours. Buses returning to Puno (Bs 30) leave Copacabana around 7:30 am and 1:30 pm, as well as later in the afternoon at 5 pm, and take three hours. It's theoretically possible to drive a rental car from Puno to Copacabana, but passing through Bolivian customs, even if you have all of your paperwork in order, can be a time-consuming hassle. It's easier just to go with public transportation, as a car isn't really needed once you reach Copacabana. In the town's main plaza, the tourist booth is the place to find information about the area.
