Club Andino. Ushuaia is the cross-country skiing (esqui de fondo in Spanish) center of South America, thanks to enthusiastic Club Andino members who took to the sport in the 1980s and made the forested hills of a high valley about 20 minutes from town a favorite destination for skiers. It's a magnet for international ski teams who come from Europe to train in the northern summer. Fadul 50, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, 9410. 2901/422–335; www.clubandinoushuaia.com.ar.
