Fodor's Expert Review Rooney's Boutique Hotel

Sarmiento 1775, Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, 1042, Argentina

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

On the third floor of a century-old building, this hotel exudes such French elegance that you might expect to find Marie Antoinette herself lolling about in one of the guest rooms filled with lovingly restored antiques. Argentine poet Leopold Lugones once occupied a room here, and the high ceilings, decorative tiles, original wood floors, and stained glass from his time remain. Black-and-white 1920s photographs from the Argentine National Archive, some including of Lugones, decorate the walls in the ample common and breakfast areas. Vogue Mexico has used the hotel for shoots.
