Fodor's Review:

This Buenos Aires landmark brims with old-school style. Built in 1909 and renovated in 2003, the hotel sits at the top of pedestrian-only Florida Street and overlooks the leafy Plaza San Martín. The elegant lobby, crystal chandeliers, and swanky cigar bar evoke Argentina's opulent, if distant, past. Rooms are comfortable and clean, if not particularly spacious. The hotel is next to both the Kavanagh Building, a 1930's art deco masterpiece that was once South America's tallest, and the Basilica Santísimo Sacramento, where renowned Argentines of all stripes, like Diego Maradona, have tied the knot. Exploring the myriad nooks and crannies of this grand old hotel is part of its timeless appeal.

Historical Charm & Modern Convenienc

Posted by drdawggy from Abilene, Texas on 9/25/07
When is a Marriott not a Marriott? When it is the Plaza, managed by Marriott. This is no cookie cutter chain hotel. It is an historic property totally restored to its glory days. Each room is a little different, but all are befitting a five star hotel. This hotel features the best bar in Buenos Aires, a grand exercise room, a breakfast room with hand painted murals...and more granite, marble and crystal than you can imagine. The staff takes pride in the hotel and in customer service...some of the staff have been working here for over 40 years....Great location. Great Service. Great Room. Who could ask for anyting more?
