Yellowstone National Park Sights

Artist Point

Artist Point Review

An impressive view of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River can be seen from this point, which has two different viewing levels, one accessible to wheelchairs. The South Rim Trail goes past this point, and there is a nearby parking area open in both summer and winter.

This is the spectacular view you see on many calendars, postcards, and travel brochures. Old Faithful Geyser may bring visitors to the park, but the view from Artist Point is what draws me back year after year in late September.

As a photographer, I find the mid-morning sun best for capturing that perfect shot of the waterfall and canyon.

However, be sure to return in the afternoon to see the downriver side, with the glorious pink and coral hues lit by the setting sun. You will be rewarded with a great view from the short unpaved trail.
