Fodor's Review:

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center, along the seafront at Fort Worden State Park, is divided into two sections. The actual Science Center, set at the end of a long pier and within a former World War II military storage facility, houses numerous aquarium displays, as well as touch tanks of starfish, crabs, and anemones. The separate, on-shore Natural History Exhibit Center is filled with displays following the region's geography and marine ecology. Beach walks, nature camps, cruises, and day camps run throughout the summer, and there's a Low Tide Festival each July.

  • Cost: $3 each bldg., $5 combined ticket
  • Open: Marine Science Center: Sept.-mid-June, weekends noon-4; June-mid-Sept., Wed.-Mon. noon-5; Natural History Exhibit Center: Sept.-mid-June, weekdays noon-5; June-mid-Sept., Wed.-Mon. 11-5
