Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum

Fodor's Review:

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum, one block from the waterfront and about three blocks from the paddle-wheel ferry landing, offers a history of Portsmouth, the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and the armed forces in Hampton Roads. The museum gives visitors the opportunity to learn about this rich history through exhibited artifacts, uniforms, ship models, illustrations, and photographs. You can also explore the retired Coast Guard lightship Portsmouth, a floating lighthouse just outside the museum, whose quarters below deck have been authentically furnished.
