Boars Head Inn Review

Set on 55 acres in west Charlottesville, this local landmark resembles an English country inn, with flower gardens, ponds, and a gristmill from 1834. Rooms have king-size four-poster beds and Italian linens and many are decked out with balconies or fireplaces. There are lots of activities here, from cooking classes and wine tastings to hot-air ballooning. The Old Mill Room restaurant, the Inn's fine dining outlet, is open for a lunch buffet and dinner, while Bistro 1834 and the Birdwood Grill offer more casual fare.

    A masquerade of a quality hotel!

    This hotel was nice 30 years ago, but it is obvious that it has never been refurbished or updated in all those years. I stayed there in suite 1132 the past 2 nights, and my room was shabby, dingy, dirty, and worn out. The scent of creosote from the fireplace was so strong I nearly passed out. The furniture was worn to threads and dirty with grease marks. The sliding glass doors to the balcony were so cloudy it was impossible to see through them when open. Chalottesville despartly needs a new hotel.
