Fodor's Review

It may look like a shack, but this red clapboard restaurant 12 mi west of Charlottesville has been serving up what is renowned as some of Virginia's best pizza since 1977. You have about three dozen toppings to choose from, including seasonal items such as snow peas and asparagus spears. Like its outside, the interior is rustic, with portraits of the owners' forebears and one wall covered with business cards from around the world. On weekends, takeout must be ordered hours

in advance.

The Best Pizza I've Ever Had

As a local it is nice to see an international/national forum recognize this definite hole in the wall. If you are coming for anything fancy you should keep driving, because you won't find it here. This is just the best little pizza place you will find anywhere. Please do those of us a favor that call us regulars and keep it quiet. It's hard enough to get a pizza as it is.

Crozet Pizza Review

I heard about Crozet Pizza being the best thing around so when I got a craving for pizza, I went for it. I was in the mood for classic toppings though they do offer specialty items. I ordered it for pick-up and it took an hour; then I was a bit shocked when they told me the cost and annoyed that a pizza place that charges so much would not take debit/credit cards. Then I bit into the pizza - and - wished I would have baked a frozen one from the grocery

store instead. What an utter disappointment. I could barely taste the sauce and it just was mediocre at best. I talked to so five friends about this and they agree: Crozet Pizza fails to live up to its hype. One person said that I made a mistake by not getting the fancy toppings and that it would have been yummy in that case. Hey, if a pizza can't stand on it's own with the basics then it just doesn't cut it. I like the cheaper place down the road a whole lot better! So - an expensive lesson learned: Crozet Pizza is glorified cardboard.

Worth it to take a chance!

We were out among the many wineries and really needed food and remembered many raving Crozet pizza. We wandered in on Monday of President's Weekend, pointed to a rustic booth in the dinky storefront. It was empty, but filled up shortly thereafter. Ordered a Medium special - pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion, green peppers and it was awesome for $22 - not greasy, very tasy ingrediants. Dtr had small Maui pizza (pineapple & ham) which she loved and

took home half. Fountain Soda and bottled beer. Definately excellent pizza, worth a trip if you are in the vicinity of W. Cville wineries. It's the kind of dive you want to return to for the food (tho I wouldn't go for salads - Kraft right out of the bottle...)
