A pleasant surprise in the woods, this lodge is surrounded by well-built, handcrafted log cabins that face a private trout-stocked lake; the cabins have kitchenettes, and a few have wood-burning stoves. The great restaurant ($$–$$$) is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from April to October, and for weekend dinners only from November to March; dinner might include buffalo, elk medallions, or wild trout with pasta. The lodge provides recreation services like boat
and bike rentals, horseback riding, and snowshoeing. It's a pleasant spot for bird-watching, too.
