Desert Voices Nature Trail. Four miles past the Quarry Visitor Center, the moderate 1½-mile trail has interpretive signs that describe the arid environment you're hiking through. You can make a longer hike by using the Connector Trail to link up with the Sound of Silence Trail. Dinosaur National Monument, Utah, 84035.

Sound of Silence Trail. More challenging than the Desert Voices trail, this 3-mile trail begins 2 miles past the Dinosaur Quarry, and delivers excellent views of Split Mountain. To hike both trails without returning to your car, use the easy ¼-mile Connector Trail, which links the two, making a trek of about 5 miles total. Dinosaur National Monument, Utah.
