Fodor's Expert Review Fort Worth Stockyards Hotel

109 E. Exchange Ave., Fort Worth, Texas, 76164, USA

A storybook place that's seen more than its share of cowboys, rustlers, gangsters, and oil barons, this hotel has been used in many a movie. If you're visiting the Stockyards, take a moment to walk through the 1907 hotel's richly appointed lobby (even if you're not a guest), sit a spell on comfy leather sofas and upholstered chairs, and watch folks walk down Exchange Avenue. There are four styles of rooms to choose from: Victorian, Native American, Mountain Man, and Western. In the Booger Red Saloon, the bar stools are saddles.

PROS

  • in the heart of the Stockyards action
  • sense of history
  • personal service

CONS

  • lacks some big-hotel amenities
