Why yes, that is a line out the door of this diminutive takeout bakery overlooking Lint Slough in the village center of Waldport, about 10 miles up the coast from Yachats—but fear not, the line moves quickly. The payoff is a daily-changing selection of heavenly sweet and savory treats that on any given day might include blackberry tarts, hazelnut cheesecake, herb focaccia, double-onion cheddar scones, and honey-pear-cardamom cakes.

  • 2. Yachats Brewing

    $

Inside this lively establishment with pitched-timber ceilings, skylights, and a solarium-style beer garden, you'll find one of the state's most impressive craft breweries and a taproom specializing in house-fermented, -pickled, and -smoked ingredients. It may sound like a slightly odd concept, but the food is creative and delicious, with dishes like house-smoked salmon, maitake mushroom eggs Benedict, kimchi rice bowls, and pulled pork sandwiches leading the way. The brews and other artisanal beverages here are just as innovative, from lemongrass-infused saison to goji berry–and–hibiscus kombucha.

  • 3. Luna Sea Fish House

    $$

Sustainable, line-caught wild seafood—including albacore, cod, halibut, and, when in season, Dungeness crab—straight from the owner's boat is the draw at this festive weathered restaurant with colorful indoor and outdoor seating areas. Fish-and-chips of all stripes, including clam and salmon, are served, but the fish tacos and a sinful dish called slumgullion—clam chowder baked with cheese and bay shrimp—are the most popular choices. You can also buy fresh fish to go. There's a second location 15 miles up U.S. 101 in Seal Rock.

  • 4. Ona Restaurant

    $$$

Relatively snazzy for such a laid-back town, this bustling downtown bistro overlooking the confluence of the Yachats River and the Pacific is nonetheless unpretentious and relaxed. The specialty is locally and seasonally sourced Oregon seafood, such as Manila clams steamed with grape tomatoes, dry vermouth, garlic, and butter, or rare seared albacore with togarashi, smoked maitake mushrooms, and tamari green beans—try a glass of wine from the excellent regional wine list.
