Portland's White House

Fodor's Review:

Hardwood floors with Oriental rugs, chandeliers, antiques, and fountains create a warm and romantic mood at this elegant B&B in the historic Irvington District. The Greek Revival mansion was built in 1911 and is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks. Rooms have private baths, flat-screen TVs, and mahogany canopy or four-poster queen- and king-size beds. A full breakfast is included in the room rate, and the owners offer vegetarian or vegan options. Smoking and pets are not permitted. Pros: Romantic, authentic historical Portland experience, excellent service. Cons: Located in residential neighborhood, shops and restaurants several blocks away.
