In a building dating from 1921, this resort is the sibling of Pine Needles Lodge. On the premises is a Georgian-style clubhouse and a golf course designed by Donald Ross that has hosted numerous tournaments. The spacious rooms are filled with authentic antiques and good copies. Seven private villas with kitchenettes are also available. Pros: elegant historic setting has loads of charm. Cons: not a good fit for those who need modern decor and up-to-the-minute amenities.
