Fodor's Review

No visit to Coney Island would be truly complete without a hot dog from this stand that first opened in 1916. Nathan's took a hit during Hurricane Sandy in late 2012—it was under six feet of water, and closed for months. But it's now back and better than ever. Be sure to order the super crispy fries with your dog. You won't regret it. On the Fourth of July, thousands come to see their world-famous hot dog–eating contest; the record stands at 69 in 10 minutes.
