El Tesoro Review

One of the Railyard District's better-kept secrets, this small café occupies a spot in the high-ceilinged center of the Sanbusco Center, steps from several chic boutiques. The tiny kitchen turns out a mix of Central American, New Mexican, and American dishes, all of them reliable. Grilled tuna tacos with salsa fresca, black beans, and rice; and Salvadorian chicken tamales wrapped in banana leaves are among the tastiest treats. El Tesoro also serves pastries, gelato, lemon bars, hot cocoa, and other snacks, making it a perfect break from shopping.

    Surprisingly good mall food

It has been fun to watch the business at El Tesoro grow over the years. It is located in a small mall a short distance from the plaza, adjacent to Border's bookstore. It is fairly quiet and people watching while you eat can be a treat.

The menu includes Mexican and South American food, along with a list of sandwiches. The quesadillas are excellent, as well as the spicy ham sandwich and other sandwiches. No matter what we have ordered, we have found the ingredients to be always fresh.
