Fodor's Expert Review The Centennial
96 Pleasant St., Concord, New Hampshire, 03301, USA
Concord's most distinctive and romantic hotel occupies an imposing brick-and-stone building constructed in 1892 for widows of Civil War veterans, but the interior has been given a head-to-toe makeover: boutique furnishings and contemporary art immediately set the tone in the lobby; pillow-top beds sport luxurious linens and down pillows; and bathrooms have stone floors, granite countertops, and stand-alone showers. The clubby restaurant, Granite, is a favorite with local movers and shakers.
PROS
- elegant redesign of historic structure
- attractive residential setting
- great bar and restaurant
CONS
- not within walking distance of downtown dining
