Triple George Grill Review

You won't find too much in the way of nouvelle flourishes or ultramod decor at this old-school Downtown tavern, and that's just how locals prefer it—the elegant dining room is a favorite haunt for power-lunching and hobnobbing. The Triple George is known for its commendably prepared traditional American fare such as oysters Rockefeller, classic "wedge" salad, and country-fried steaks. Seafood and chops dominate the fancier parts of the menu, from shellfish cioppino and traditional fish-and-chips to osso buco–style beef short ribs and a hefty pan-seared porcini-crusted rib eye.

    Triple George Grill Review

ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL EXPERIENCE. The wife and wanted to go to a special place for our 18th anniversary and the reviews were pretty good. We were seated immediately and the waitress came and recited the specials. I ordered the ribeye (which was represented to be about 16 oz) and the wife ordered the filet because the waitress told us they were noted for their steaks. The food came out quickly and that's where things went south. They brought me a piece of beef (?) that I could have found at a discount grocery store. It was tough, tastless, about 8 oz (remember the 16 oz representation?), and over done. The waitress removed the plate immediately and someone came from the kitchen to make excuses to me ("well, it was a smaller cut, but we hand cut all our meat."). I was offered another but figured that if this was their first impression, things weren't likely to get better, and I declined. The wife's filet was nothing special - we've bought MUCH better at wholesale clubs. The bill for 2 skunky Heinikens, 2 mediocre glasses of wine, and a poor filet was $63. We think this is an unreasonably high amount for such a poor dinner. We would recommend you pass up this place and consider the Ventner grill instead, which is FAR, FAR superior to this place.
