Fodor's Review

Built in 1871, the old Montana Territorial Prison did not shut down until 1979. It's now the where you can enter cells and learn about early Montana law. Also on display is the gallows tree taken from town to town in territorial days to hang convicted prisoners.

New Hours

The Old Prison and Montana Auto Museums are now open 7 days a week year round, except for the Christmas and New Year break. Hours are 8 am till 6pm during the Summer, all other seasons open 10 am till 4 pm. Admission fee is $10 for Adults, $6 for kids 10 through 15, 9 and under are FREE. The other Museums, Yesterday's Playthings, Frontier Montana and Powell County, are only open during the Summer. Please call or check the website for open dates and

times. Admission gets you into ALL of the Museums, not just one.
