Edgartown Inn

56 N. Water St., Edgartown, Massachusetts, 02539, USA

The inside of the former home of whaling captain Thomas Worth still evokes its late-18th-century origins. In fact, its cozy parlor and antiques-filled rooms look as if the captain still lives here. The inn was also the spot where Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote much of his Twice-Told Tales. Many an Edgartonian joins inn guests in the paneled dining room or back garden for breakfast in summertime. White bedspreads, floral wallpaper, and wicker furniture keep rooms—some of which have harbor views—unfussy but comfortable.
